THE HANGOVER HELPER SMOOTHIE

If you happen to be nursing a hangover (or simply looking for a yummy, nutrient-dense, and nourishing green smoothie!), this recipe is for you.  The bad news?  Don’t let anyone fool you — there’s no magic bullet, quick-fix hangover remedy.  The good news?  This, too, my friends, shall pass.  And my HANGOVER HELPER can certainly help ease the pain.

This green beauty is packed with electrolytes, vitamins & minerals, antioxidants, and foods that help the body to detoxify and reduce inflammation and nausea.  So give it a try — #doctorsorders!

For one serving, blend together until smooth:

  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut water (electrolytes)

  • 1/2 frozen or ripe banana (potassium)

  • one generous handful frozen pineapple (vitamin C)

  • one generous handful of leafy greens (always a good idea)

  • 1/4 ripe or frozen avocado (potassium and healthy fats)

  • 1 to 2 Tbsp Nuzest Clean Lean Smooth Vanilla protein powder (optional protein boost)

  • 1/2 Tbsp or more peeled grated fresh ginger, adjusted to taste (anti-nauseant)

  • 1/2 to 1 tsp matcha powder, adjusted to taste (antioxidants including catechins that increase the production of the body’s detoxification enzymes)

  • 1/8 to 1/4 tsp ground turmeric (anti-inflammatory)

  • pinch of black pepper (to increase the absorption of curcumin, the active agent in turmeric)

  • raw Manuka honey or Lakanto sugar-free monk fruit sweetener, or sweetener of choice, adjusted to taste (optional)
