BOOSTED LATTE 4 WAYS
/I absolutely love this boosted latte and it has become a treasured part of my morning routine. I actually drink decaf, but I find the blend of healthy fats, protein, spices, and energizing adaptogens to be a great way to start my day.
Of note, if I am winding down in the afternoon or looking for a more “soothing” drink, I stick with the decaf and opt for more calming adaptogens such as Plant Burst ashwagandha (1/4 tsp) and FreshCap Mushrooms reishi (1/2 tsp) in place of the maca & cordyceps used here.
Gelatin powder may sound like a strange addition, but trust me on this one and give it a go. The gelatin makes for a wonderfully frothy drink with benefits for the gut, skin and joints! However, if you are vegan or don’t have gelatin powder, you can certainly omit or substitute collagen peptides.
Ingredients for one serving:
1 to 1 1/2 cups hot coffee (regular or decaf), adjusted to taste
1 to 1 1/2 cups warmed cashew or nondairy milk of choice, adjusted to taste
1 Tbsp Further Food or Organika gelatin powder (omit for vegan)
1 tsp almond or cashew butter or MCT oil
1/2 tsp Plant Burst or Organika maca powder (optional)
1/2 tsp FreshCap Mushrooms cordyceps or Thrive 6 mushroom blend (optional)
1/4 to 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, adjusted to taste
pinch ground cardamom, adjusted to taste
Lakanto sugar-free monk fruit sweetener, pure stevia, or sweetener of choice, adjusted to taste
Directions:
Put all of the ingredients in blender container and blend until smooth and frothy. Adjust spices to taste and sweeten as desired. Serve with a pinch of ground cinnamon or cacao powder (optional) & enjoy!
BOOSTED LATTE VARIATIONS
Here are 3 of my favourite variations:
For a MOCHACCINO version, add 1 to 1 1/2 Tbsp Lakanto sugar-free Drinking Chocolate OR 1 Tbsp Giddy Yo raw cacao powder and sweetener as desired.
For a PEPPERMINT MOCHA, add a couple drops pure peppermint extract to the Mochaccino recipe.
For a PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE, add 1 to 2 Tbsp pure pumpkin purée and use 1/4 to 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice in place of the cinnamon & cardamom.
